Liquid Gold Products was founded by Dr Stavia Blunt in 2012. Stavia (Stavroula is the fully Greek name) is half Greek (mother) and  half English and was born and raised in Kenya.

Prior to starting Liquid Gold Products, Stavia was a Neurologist and neuroscientist in London. Disillusioned with the lack of emphasis that current Western medicine places on diet, lifestyle and prevention, in 2011 Stavia took a sabbatical to spend time in Greece, researching the traditional Greek diet and its health benefits. She discovered that most of the beneficial effects of the so-called Mediterranean diet are in fact based on the traditional Greek diet.

Stavia concluded that this precious, sustainable way of life must be preserved  and promoted. Soon she was on a mission to promote all that Greek has to offer - starting with the key ingredients of the super-healthy Greek version of the Mediterranean Diet. And in October 2012, Liquid Gold Products was born.

Stavia has travelled extensively in Greece learning about traditional methods and products, and meeting many wonderful people along the way. She has developed strong relationships with all of the producers and has acquired considerable knowledge about all her products - from picking olives, gathering wild herbs, collecting honey to making all natural care products and throwing clay!

Stavia has also trained as a professional olive oil taster in Greece, London (with personal tuition by Charles Quest Ritson), and Italy, and has a diploma from the International Olive Oil Organisation in Tuscany. She has learned about olive horticulture and has her own olive grove in Crete of over 300 trees.

Whilst the initial focus of Liquid gold Products was on olive oils, honeys, herbs and other culinary delights, the repertoire of premium Greek products has increased to include some superb indigenous wines, a vast range of natural care products, exquisite hand made jewellery and knives, various crafts, and gorgeous Cretan Ceramic Pots. As a musician and songwriter herself, Stavia is also passionate about Greek music and dance, and promotes both with regular Greek evenings in London (Greek Dining Club)

The Liquid Gold Cave is managed by Anna Siemasczko, with assistance from Sadie Russell and Jonah Manning on weekends.

Our Ethos and Our Customers

Our ethos is very simple: quality, provenance, health, taste and sustainability. By working directly with the producers we ensure that all of these aims are safe-guarded, and bring them directly to the customer.

But don't just take our word! Many of our products have won prestigious international prizes - ranging from the olive oils (Los Angeles, New York, Japan, Germany, Israel) to the wines (including several Decanter Awards). Five of our honeys have been awarded Great Taste Awards. But the accolades we are most proud of are those from people whose opinions we know and respect: our customers. When we started the business, we kept a book in our Liquid Gold Cave in Richmond for our earliest visitors. The book rapidly filled, and the comments were heart-warming. One of the most memorable was the first (of many) visits from Bamber and Christina Gascoigne, who wrote: 'A Cretan oasis on the River Thames'. Since then we have built up a wonderful loyal following of repeat customers - and new friends - and the word is spreading....

We are also delighted that we can count amongst our customers the olive oil expert Charles Quest Ritson (author of the best-selling Dorling Kindersley book on Olive oil), and some of the world's best chefs: Nigella Lawson (who includes our Cretan Liquid Gold Extra Virgin Olive Oil as one of her 5 kitchen essentials ),  Thomasina Miers (winner of Masterchef, and founder of Wahaca), and Irini Tzortzoglou (Masterchef champion 2019)
