Raki (also known as Tsikoudia in Crete and Tsipouro across Greece) is the island's most beloved spirit — a grape marc brandy similar in style to Italian grappa, but with a distinctly Cretan character. It has been the drink of Cretan hospitality, or filoxenia, for centuries.
