A really special wine, fastidiously made from grapes that are unique to this area of the Peloponnese. Tetramythos winery produces the only single varietal wine in limited number, which are vinified in a truly natural way. The winemaker, Panagiotis Papagiannopoulos, is adventurous and dedicated. All of his vineyards are organically cultivated and only natural elements such as copper and sulphur are used as pesticides.
Everything is done in the traditional way with minimal mechanisation - the grapes are de-stemmed by hand, still pressed by foot and the must is fermented with wild indigenous yeasts. There is a 7 month maturation in old oak but this does not oakify the wine - instead it adds to texture and volume. Minimal sulphur is used in the bottling process (~ 20 mg /lt).
This same dedicated team is behind our Tetramythos Retsina which is matured in clay amphora, and the Tetramythos Muscat Sec Blanc.
This is wine making with minimum possible interventions.
