Charles Quest Ritson is an internationally acclaimed olive oil expert and author of the influential and best-selling book ‘Olive Oil' (Dorling Kindersley). He is the first Englishman to qualify as an olive oil taster in accordance with the European Union standards at the Italian National Organisation for Olive Oil tasters (ONAOO) in Liguria. He has tasted over 4000 different olive oils and visited producers in 6 continents. He has run tasting courses in England and Italy. He advises producers in several countries and helps retailers to select their range.
Dr Stavia Blunt was a consultant physician in London for nearly 20 years before setting up Liquid Gold Products – a company which extols the virtues of the super-healthy Cretan Diet. Her approach to medical care has always been holistic with focus on prevention, diet and lifestyle. The Cretan Diet is arguably the healthiest in the world, largely due to the extremely high proportion of high quality extra virgin olive oil. Dr Blunt presents the latest evidence on the health benefits of olive oil and how it compares with other dietary fats.
NEW E-BOOK FEATURE S CRETAN GOLD EXTRA VIRIGIN OLIVE OILS Our range of Liquid Gold extra virgin olive oils are featured in the new e-book Remarkable recipes from the people who really know about extra virgin olive oil – the producers by international olive oil expert Judy Ridgway. They are used in the recipes for Cretan Spinach Pie, Apple and Pear Turnovers and Rich Chocolate cake.
All 76 recipes in the book come from olive growers and olive oil producers around the world because, as Judy says, who knows more about cooking with extra virgin olive oil? “Some of the most interesting and delicious dishes I have ever eaten have been served at the tables of the olive growers and oil producers”, she comments.
The recipes are arranged in sections according to the time taken to prepare the dishes with great fast food dishes followed by quick and easy breakfasts, snacks and suppers as well as salads and cold dishes. Savoury dishes that take a little longer come next with a final section on baking with extra virgin olive oil. Some of the recipes are traditional, others are family favourites and yet others are modern creations from gifted cooks but one thing Judy is sure of is that they are all quite different to the recipes found in general cookbooks of the various regions.

"Liquid Gold Organic"
"This is the best Koroneiki extra virgin oil I have tasted this year ... a splendid oil – clean, fresh and fruity – Koroneiki at its best.
It has a strong and pleasing smell of herbs, tomato leaves and artichokes. The taste is very harmonious, fresh and pleasant - reminiscent of cut grass, almonds and bananas but, above all, well-balanced. It is followed by a slight peppery aftertaste and a light touch of bitterness right at the end – both of them qualities that combine well with and enhance the oil's fruitiness. You are to be congratulated for finding such a first-class oil in what has been a difficult year for olive-growers in Crete" (March 2013) "
